Welcome to School Social Work Services at Nokomis!
Hello, My name is Eve Toomey I am new to Nokomis this school year.  I have been working as a school social worker for St Paul Public Schools for the past 11 years.  All of my experiences are in working with elementary school age children.  I love the work I do.
Some of the services I provide include working with small groups and individual children on friendship skills, anger/frustration management, social skills, as well as helping children problem solve.  I also am able to link families with resources for mental health care and basic needs services.  I work with staff in the school on intervention strategies to help children maintain social and emotional success in the classroom and throughout the school.
If your child works with me you can expect them to spend part of their time talking about personal issues impacting them, role playing, doing Brain Gym ( a  researched based movement program to help stimulate brain development and its connections to overall healthy emotional and behavioral functioning), visualization activities, and basic yoga as means to help increase awareness and regulation of emotions and behavior.  We also spend part of the time involved in interactive play and creative activities.
I currently work part time at Nokomis.  I am in my office Tuesday and Wednesdays from 8:30-4 and Thursdays from 8-12.  Please feel free to stop in and visit or to call or email me if you have any questions, need assistance in finding mental health  services, or if you need assistance in finding basic needs services.  I would be happy to help.  Please see the list of resources below, if something is not listed on this page that addresses what you are looking for feel free to call as there are many changing services that can not be listed on this page.
