The ELL teachers work with the model of ELL service called collaboration.  An ELL teacher and a mainstream teacher teach as a team to provide the best instruction and promote language development of ELL students.  ELL teachers are co-teaching in classrooms during literacy blocks.  We provide instruction through various components of Reader's Workshop:  Guided Reading, Oral Language, Shared Reading, and Phonics.
   
The collaborative model has been recognized by the district of St. Paul as a highly effective approach to promote English language development of ELL students.

We are noted for organizing an annual Hmong New Year celebration in November where students, parents, and staff come together to celebrate this Hmong tradition.
Hmong CLAnD (culture, language, art, and dance) classes are offered after school on Tuesdays in the fall and spring.
